Slightly let down. This was our first time camping here. We LOVE Panther Creek, but wanted to try something new. The sites were level. You can see pretty much every camp site around, there is no privacy for any of the spots that can be booked online. We have come to expect a lot out of Hoodoo campgrounds with hosts like Larry at Panther Creek. The bathrooms left a lot to be desired. The "cleaning" appeared to just be them flooding the place with a hose, which stayed wet and then muddy the rest of the time we were there another day. There was fecal matter on the wall that was never washed off during the cleaning. I will say the landscape with the creek and all was very beautiful and there are lots of little trails to explore. Overall not the worst we have been to, but certainly far from the best.
This lush campground is very large, and the sites are well spaced and secluded. The ground is a bit gravelly, so bring sleeping pads. The mushroom watchers will have a field day. And the bathrooms are super nice for pit toilets (cleaned twice a day).
Excellent place, best in the shoulder season.
Nice campsites, they are fairly close together but all come with a firepit, picnic table, and a tent spot. If you have more than one vehicle you will have to pay for the extras. Several bathrooms (out houses.) Water access as well.
The creek runs right by several of the camping spots. To the East of 30d is a hike up to Lava Bute. Well maintained, More toilets than most campgrounds. Easy access to several hikes just a few miles away.
